What are ‘Keywords’?

Date posted: 22 February 2010

Strategic placement and repetition of specific words and phrases within your web site - such as ‘Web Site’ or ‘Web Site Design’ ;) - in a manner so that your web site visitors would not notice anything unusual, will help to reinforce these keywords in the search engine rankings.  This means that a search on a particular word or phrase related to your web site will help your particular site to be found by the search engines.

Targeting keywords is one of the Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) techniques that Solent Systems employs when we design our customers’ web sites.

Depending on your requirements your web site’s design should target your brand/organisation name, but often the services or products that your web site provides would be the higher priority keywords.

Solent Systems will carry out research on your preferred keywords to ensure that the maximum visitors are referred to your web site.

Below is an image which illustrates the search trends on the word ‘roses’ around the month of February demonstrating seasonal behaviour.
